Lactic acid bacteria for humansTENSIA® | INDUCIA® | MCC1

Lactic acid bacterium Lactiplantibacillus plantarum INDUCIA® (DSM 21379)

L. plantarum INDUCIA® is a lactobacillus isolated from a healthy Estonian child. This strain was discovered and developed by BioCC OÜ researchers in cooperation with researchers from the University of Tartu, and in 2008 it was deposited in the international microbial collection Deutsche Sammlung von Mikroorganismen und Zellkulturen GmbH under the number DSM 21379. The safety and tolerability of INDUCIA® has been proven in adults without health complaints (aged 20 to 60 years), the health effects have been tested on more than 500 people. No discomfort, abdominal pain or other negative symptoms were reported in the impact studies.

The functional properties of L. plantarum INDUCIA®:

  • INDUCIA® protects cardiovascular health by lowering the level of LDL cholesterol in blood due to the activity of the BSH (bile salt hydrolase) enzyme and by binding dietary cholesterol in the intestine;

  • INDUCIA® lowers the level of oxidized low-density lipoproteins (ox-LDL) in blood and the index of oxidative stress;

  • due to its antioxidant properties and the presence of a complete intracellular glutathione system, INDUCIA® supports the antioxidant network of the human body;

  • helps maintain and balance the intestinal microbiota by increasing the amount of beneficial lactobacilli, which ensures better absorption of nutrients;

  • increases the human body's natural defense against several different enteropathogens by producing antimicrobial compounds (organic acids, hydrogen peroxide, plantaricins);

  • In food products, INDUCIA® helps prevent the risk of foodborne infections by suppressing potentially disease-causing bacteria such as listeria, salmonella and shigella;

  • INDUCIA® is capable of inhibiting Clostridium difficile spore germination and vegetative cell reproduction.

  • INDUCIA® has a flexible metabolism and therefore tolerates technological handling well, is able to multiply in a wide temperature range (+12 °C to +45 °C) and even in a carbohydrate-poor environment.

The health benefits of L. plantarum INDUCIA®:

  • prevents cardiovascular diseases by lowering the level of LDL cholesterol in blood;

  • protecting the human body from oxidative damage;

  • increase in antioxidant activity by lowering markers of oxidative stress (ox-LDL, OSI and TPX).

L. plantarum INDUCIA® has been granted the following Estonian (EE05341), European (EP2288360), Korean (KR10-1595042) and Russian (RU2486234) patent:

“Isolated microorganism strain Lactobacillus plantarum INDUCIA® DSM 21379 as a probiotic that increases the body's natural defense capacity, food and composition containing it, and the use of a microorganism for the preparation of a drug that increases cellular immunity"
