Lentilactobacillus buchneri BioCC 203
Lentilactobacillus buchneri BioCC 203 DSM 32650 has passed the scientific panel of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) and received a positive assessment, after which the European Commission issued implementing regulation (EU) 2023/2646. Based on this, the bacterium was entered in the Register of Feed Additives of the European Union.
The strain Lentilactobacillus buchneri tüvee BioCC 203 is used as a microbiological silage additive for ensuring aerobic stability of feed (incl. corn silage) with low dry matter content (£ 20%) and improving fermentation of feed, for increasing the concentration of lactic and acetic acid in feed and for reducing pH, hence decreasing the loss of nutrients in feed. Usage of L.buchneri BioCC 203 in ensiling supresses the activity of pathogenic microorganisms (enteropathogens), yeasts and mold in feed. The strain can be used for prolonging the storage life of feed made from fresh material difficult to ferment.

Characteristics of strain L. buchneri BioCC 203:
-
Improvement of silage fermentation quality
-
by increasing the lactic acid content,
-
by increasing the acetic acid content
-
-
Reduction of silage nutrient loss (better NH3-N/total N ratio, lower ethanol content)
-
Improvement of aerobic stability
-
Antimicrobial properties, controlling the activity of pathogens, yeasts, and molds in silage.
